How to Remove Stains from Most Fabrics?


Ugh, don't you just hate it when you stain that off-white couch or you spill some wine and you think, now I have to just throw it away. Think again before getting rid of that stained piece of furniture, as there may be a cure. Here is a list of stain removal techniques for our Stain Fighting Superheroes. Applies to most fabrics...

BEER: DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz.1/1 gallon water / white vinegar (3 oz.)

BERRY: DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz. 1 /1 gallon water /ammonia (4-8 oz.)

BLOOD (dried): DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz. 1 / 1 gallon water, or try Goo Gone Grease Cutter, Greased Lighting, or Clean Rite Purple Power - available at Wal-Mart, Kmart, etc)

BUTTER: Volatile solvent (acetone) 100%

CHARCOAL, PENCIL MARKS: Vacuum, then DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz. 1 /1 gallon water)

CATSUP or MUSTARD: DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz. 1 / 1 gallon of water

CHEWING GUM: Volatile solvent (acetone) 100%

CHOCOLATE: DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz. / 1 gallon /ammonia (4-8 oz.)

COFFEE: DAWN dishwashing liquid / water, white vinegar, volatile solvent (acetone)

COLA, EGG (raw) GRAVY: DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz.) 1 / 1 gallon of water

CRAYON: Paint remover (100%), oil grease remover (mix as directed)

GREASE (car): Volatile solvent (acetone) 100%

IRON RUST: Carbona Stain Devil #9

LIPSTICK: Paint remover (100%), volatile solvent (acetone) 100%, DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz.) / 1 gallon water

MILDEW: Bleach (1 cup) / DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz.) /1 gallon water

SHOE POLISH (wax): Apply heated iron over towel, volatile solvent(acetone) 100%

SUNTAN LOTION: Pine Power or Pine Oil Detergent / water (mix as directed)

TREE SAP: Turpentine (100%) DAWN dishwashing liquid (2 oz.) / 1 gallon water

CANDLE WAX: Apply heated iron over towel, volatile solvent (acetone) 100%
